Freedom of Information

There is a traditional struggle between truth and lies, between being open or closed, between knowledge and ignorance.

If we (taxpayers) give you a wage, then mind your language!

Despots have always searched for a curtain to cloak their bloodied daggers.

Journalists who are revealing what those in authority are saying and writing are posing this simple question:

Why do we need diplomats and spies when we have truth tellers?

That isn’t to say that we don’t need diplomats, because we probably do. But at least we should expect they temper their language towards peace and harmony, rather than conflict and pain. And also remember that the revelation of what you’re saying and the criticism of it, is only free advice.
